New Trailer!!!!

Well after much deliberation and looking on kijiji everyday, I was able to find a very good looking and affordable 12' trailer that I am now going to use for the tiny house. On Tumble Weed Tiny homes website they have a 10' tiny house called the XS which is what I'm going to base my tiny house on now. Because the trailer is 12' I will build the 10' long structure and have a 2' porch/deck! It may not be the Fencl model that I was set on building but I am happy that I'm still building my tiny house. We got the trailer on Friday and by Monday the trailer was stripped of the walls that were originally built onto it, unbolted the wood from the trailer deck, sanded and painted! The trailer has a 3500lb axle so we might be switching it out for a 5000lb axle so I havent dont any more work to it so far. Here are the pictures to show the progress...

Blogging Hiatus...

So I have been on a blogging hiatus since going to purchase my trailer from a seller off of Kijiji. The trailer was an 18' flat deck trailer that was built in the late 80s. My friend and I went down to meet the seller for the trailer (2 hour drive!) we pulled up and the trailer looked awesome! After further inspection of the trailer you could see that it had been freshly painted but after looking underneath you could see some pretty serious rust problems. I called my husband and a few friends who new more about this than me and after some convincing, I walked away from buying the trailer. I was so dismayed that my project would seriously never get done because I needed the trailer in order to build the little house! Here are some pictures of the 18' trailers rust that made me change my mind...Maybe it wouldnt have been that bad but better not take chances when your building a house on it!
